The Bar-T Mountainside campus is an ideal facility for hosting an educational program, workshop, or conference. Just a few miles from Sugarloaf Mountain in Frederick County, Mountainside’s unique rural location near Urbana is easily accessible from Interstate 270.
We feel it is our responsibility to further environmental stewardship not only with our campus and facilities, but also in the minds of every person who visits. In that spirit, Mountainside features an energy efficient green building for workshops or conferences and the entire campus has become net-zero producing as much energy as it uses. We maintain close ties with the land through:
- A network of rain gardens, stream buffer plantings, and a stream restoration project. Watch a video of the stream restoration below!
- A 2 acre garden and 60 acres of ongoing cultivation
- Over 7 acres of wetlands
- A spring fed pond and stream suitable for catch and release fishing
- More than 15 acres of woodlands and 1.5 miles of hiking trails
Our main building for workshops, educational events and conferences can host 200 people. It features a prep kitchen for catered meals. Rental fees include 195 chairs, 15 five foot round tables, and 20 six foot rectangular tables. Tours and presentations about the green features of the building are also available.
